Thank You to our Coach – Jerry Koolhoven

Lisanne Vos and Jerry Koolhoven - Enercup 2014

I’m busy writing and putting together a blog post about my biggest learnings from this contest prep and one thing is extremely clear – none of it would have been possible without this man – our Coach Jerry Koolhoven Nbbf Bondscoach.

At the beginning of this year I went to him with a specific goal and with his help, support and guidance throughout this year I couldn’t be happier with the physique I walked on stage with at the Enercup.

He knew my ultimate criteria was to be as healthy as I could be (especially after cancer), stick to my specific eating habits (a combo of vegan and macrobiotic) and ensure my one remaining kidney would stay safe and sound.

Jerry, thanks so much! Not only am I happy about the physical changes but I’ve never felt healthier in my life.

Maarten winning 4th place in the -90kg bodybuilding class and me winning the People’s Choice Award was the icing on the cake.

Truly Humbled and Honoured!

Excted for the changes we can bring in the next 7 weeks for the FlexCup.

The Loaded Cup 2014 in Denmark

Last weekend my husband accompanied Jerry Koolhoven to the Danish bodybuilding contest The Loaded Cup, as his coach and support.  He came back extremely enthusiastic about the competition, the whole vibe over the weekend and has great memories of the people he met and conversations he had.

It was a big production that welcomed around 1500 people from all over the world.  With a vibe that was professional and passionate, the whole production was very well organised.  From entering the event until the end ceremony, it was brilliant.

A huge highlight of the event was that all of the athletes, who were competing that day, were introduced to the audience at the beginning through audio, visual and video media.  It was a great, and respectful way, to include and welcome all of the athletes.

Another Dutch athlete competing in the contest was Shirley van den Bos (coached by Jaimy Maktari – Team Elite Fitness Models) who competed in the Bikini Division.

After pre-judging both Jerry and Shirley went through to the finals and placed 6th in their classes.  Jerry: >80kg Bodybuilding and Shirley: Bikini +172cm.

You can check out more via the Loaded Cup’s facebook page.

Below are some pics (courtesy of Team-Andro) from the contest, featuring both Jerry and Shirley.

Quick and easy clean eating lunch/dinner – Prawn & Broccoli Noodles

8 ingredient quick and easy clean eating lunch/dinner - Prawn & Broccoli Noodles

I’m all for quick and easy meals, especially dinners when you just want to eat and don’t have too much time to prep.

I came up with this creation when I was using what I had in the fridge and it has become a staple favorite in the household. Quick, easy, clean and very yummy.

Prep and cooking time: 10 mins

Ingredients:
Coconut oil (1 tbls)
Prawns (look on the back at the ingredients – take the prawns which only include prawns, NOT all the E-numbers)
Broccoli (half a head)
Soba noddles (80-100g)
Garlic (3 cloves)
Sesame oil (1 tbls)
Pepper (to taste)
Chili pepper (to taste)
Fish oil (2 tbls)

Method:
Bring a pan of water to the boil, then cook the soba noodles and broccoli for 10 mins.
Heat the coconut oil in a wok, cook the prawns and garlic adding pepper and chili pepper to taste.
Drain the noodles and broccoli, then add them to the wok. Add the sesame oil and fish oil and cook for an extra minute.

The Flexcup 2013 in Veldhoven, The Netherlands

This weekend we went to the Flexcup in Veldhoven, which is geared towards beginners (D class) but also has a C class.

This is the first time we experienced the Flexcup and absolutely loved it.  It was an impressive production – very professional,  great vibe and energy from both the athletes and people attending.

Not only is it a bodybuilding contest but it focussed on crossfit, powerlifting and strongman.

We both knew that we wanted to compete for a contest next year, but after attending the Flexcup I have to say this passion and desire is even stronger.

Below are a few pics from the event (courtesy of XXL Nutrition)
